Engine oils for Lawnmowers, Tractors , Scythes - He who lubricates goes :)
He who lubricates drives :) Although everyone is familiar with this saying, not everyone realizes how important the use of lubricants dedicated by the manufacturer is for the proper operation of the device. The details are always contained in the instruction manuals, but it is also useful to have a general knowledge in this area, which will allow you to give the user the right instructions for the proper operation of mechanical equipment.
Oils used in the horticultural and agricultural industry are divided into:
- motor oils,
- gears,
- hydraulic
- and special purpose.
In doing so, it should be remembered that the equipment we are dealing with is characterized by special working conditions resulting from its design. These are working conditions under high mechanical and thermal loads, in addition, in an atmosphere containing large amounts of mechanical impurities. Therefore, only dedicated lubricants should be used for this type of equipment. Commonly available oils from the automotive market are useless in this case. Both four-stroke and two-stroke engine lubrication oils must be oils designed to lubricate highly loaded, air-cooled engines.
Oils intended for lubrication of four-stroke engines are distinguished by two parameters - viscosity determined according to SAE (Society of Automotive Enginiers), and API quality class (American Petrolium Institute).
The viscosity designation of single-season oil contains digits indicating the suitability of the oil for operation at a specific ambient temperature, in the case of multi-season oil in between the digits of the symbol is the letter W.
The oil quality designation consists of the letter S indicating its intended use for lubrication of gasoline-fueled engines (C for compression-ignition engines) and the second letter from A to P - the farther the letter in the alphabet, the higher the oil quality.
Multigrade oils are a bit of a design compromise. This is because they must maintain the required lubricity and consistency in winter conditions and sufficient viscosity in summer conditions. Compared to monograde oils, they are characterized by lower density, which adversely affects their consumption by the engine. Therefore in machines that operate only in the summer (mowers, scarifiers, rotovators, garden tractors working in the summer) is recommended use of SAE 30 summer oil, in machines operating in the winter or through the year-round SAE 10W 30 multigrade oil is required. The quality class of oils for four-stroke engines depends on the content of stabilizing, antioxidant, cleaning and hydrophobic additives. So the higher quality oil according to API is used in a given engine, the engine has a a chance for longer life despite harsh working conditions.
Available in offerie Oleo-Mac four-stroke engine oil exceeds many times the minimum requirements of engine manufacturers. It's oil multigrade with viscosity SAE 10W 30 and quality class SL.
Slightly different is the designations of oils for engine lubrication two-stroke. All blend oils are multi-grade oils. No distinction is made in this group of oil viscosities because their basic property is ease of mixing with gasoline and the stability of the mixture over the period of the storage.
Oils designed for two-stroke engines, contrary to popular opinion, cannot be burned in the combustion chamber of the engine. The oil is designed to lubricate internal engine components, and then escape from the engine through the exhaust manifold into a muffler equipped with a catalytic converter, so that the environmental impact of the oil contained in the exhaust gases is minimal.
For the life of the engine and for maximum environmental protection, it is therefore important to use the highest quality oil possible. Quality of oil intended for for lubrication of two-stroke engines is also specified by the API standard, but the a more familiar designation is that known from the motorcycle market JASO (Japanese Automotive Standards Organisation). The highest currently the applicable standard is FD class, which indicates that the oil so labeled is intended for lubrication of heavily loaded air-cooled engines.
Oleo-Mac recommends using one of its flagship oils: semi-synthetic PROSINT2 EVO and fully synthetic EUROSINT2 EVO having FD quality class. Both of these oils are available in 100 ml, 1 l and 5 l packages. The 1-liter package is also available with a dispenser to make it easier to prepare the mixture in the ratio required by the manufacturer.
